TAKE US BACK TO EGYPT

It is amazing how current events reflect the stories in the Torah. No sooner had the Jews been taken out of Egypt than they started to wail that they wanted to go back into slavery. Instead of recognizing the strength of their nation, their courage collapsed in the face of some adversity.

Today, we see a similar scenario. Instead of delivering a overwhelming defeat to its enemies—which it is capable of doing—the Israeli Government seems willing to go back to Egypt. The Jews are once again in control of the Promised Land and they are not obligated to share this control with any other nation. If the Arabs cannot live in peace, they do not belong in the land.

It took 40 years of wandering in the desert before the Jewish people gained the strength and determination to drive the seven pagan nations—who burned their children in fires as a sacrifice to their god—out of the Land of Canaan.

In these times, it is taking over 50 years for the leaders of the Jews to develop the strength and determination to drive the current sacrificers of children out of the Promised Land. Unfortunately, there are no leaders like Moses guiding the Jews so the required strength and determination to continue building the State of Israel has to come from the extraordinary Jew.

NO MORE BACK OF THE BUS...
NO MORE FRONT OF THE BUS...
NO MORE BUS

Despite the billions of dollars and billions of kid hours spent on school bussing, and the high hopes associated with this program in some quarters, it has failed to improve the quality of education in America. The huge annual investment in bussing could be spent more effectively in upgrading teachers and facilities. Minority groups, “liberals” and politically correct educators would better serve our students by demanding teachers who can teach plus adequate supplies and equipment in every neighborhood school.

If these recommendations are implemented, I believe that educational results will improve. However, the improvements will not reach the levels they should unless another factor is added to the educational mix. That requirement is parent/home participation in the educational process. Not a simple requirement given the nature of many of our minority group communities, as well as the growing number of disfunctional parents and homes in majority group communities.

Perhaps we cannot drag these people down to parent-teacher conferences or open school nights, but perhaps we should try. Just like we are trying to measure the success of an individual school or a school system by test scores, let’s establish a measurement system for parent cooperation in the education of their children.

One way to measure the level of cooperation is to track to what degree parents show up at conferences with teachers, open school nights and student activities to which parents are invited. Records should be maintained by each school as to the level of participation of each student’s parents. Further, training programs on how to provide a home environment conducive to learning should be established for parents of low achieving students. Records would be maintained as to attendance at these evening sessions. One or two specifically trained instructors to conduct these parent sessions would be assigned to each school.

We cannot force the parents of students who dragging down American education to implement what they are taught but we certainly can force them to participate in the education of their children—it should be a civic obligation with penalties for non-compliance, just like jury duty.

WHATEVER HAPPENED TO....

1. ...the news of the Iraqi-al Qaeda connection which was uncovered during the Clinton Administration? Evidence was uncovered related to the chemical weapons plant in the Sudan which showed an Iraqi-Osama bin Ladin connection. The facility, which was masquerading as a drug factory, was destroyed by American missiles. Less than a handful of American newspapers have carried stories about Saddam and bin Ladin working together. Most of our media do not want to hear about the connection because it gives credence for the war against Iraq.

2. ...the information that was circulating about an Iraqi-Oklahoma City bombing connection? Based on a hearing in the Oklahoma legislature and articles in several publications, there was evidence that Timothy McVeigh had contact with Iraqi agents before the bombing. As far as I can determine, this story was swept under the rug rather than being refuted. Maybe the F.B.I. didn’t want to address the issue of not acting on the information that was given to them prior to the bombing. It reminds me of J. Edgar Hoover’s claim that there was no Mafia. The reason, supposedly, because the Mafia had compromising picture of the F.B.I. chief.

THE GOVERNORS’ UNETHICAL BEHAVIOR COMPETITION

Governor John Rowland of Connecticut has used state contractors to do work on his home at lower than normal cost or no cost. Then he lied about it. He entered into financial arrangements with other individuals who were getting contracts from the state. A growing number of his appointees have been indicted, and some found guilty of accepting bribes and steering state contracts to favored firms. Just about every day another malfeasance comes to light and the pressure is on him to resign. He is a strong contender for the most unethical award.

At this early stage, the strongest contender for the most unethical award appears to be former Illinois Governor George Ryan who has been charged with racketeering conspiracy, as well as an extensive list of corruption counts. Dozens of his associates already have pleaded guilty or been convicted on similar charges. For 12 years while he served as secretary of state and governor he doled out millions of dollars of state business and contracts to friends and associates, as well as in return for bribes.

A late entry in the race is New York Gov. George Pataki—known to his close associates as governor mooch. He took a vacation trip to a Caribbean resort paid for by a state racing commissioner who is under investigation. The guv—after this came to light—claimed that he paid for it, at least some of it. It has also come to light this was a regular activity on the part of the governor and his family. Even if proved innocent of accepting favors, why would he get involved with someone who is under criminal investigation? This governor is not a strong contender for the title.

The unethical behavior of the next contestant—Arnold Schwarzenegger, governor of California—was not financial but involved the treatment of women. As he has been so aptly nicknamed by Gary Trudeau—Gropenfuhrer—Schwarzenegger has a long history of molesting women. His peccadillos probably won’t make him a real contender for the most unethical governors’ award but they may force him to register as a sex offender.

WHAT CULTURE WAR IV?

Sheikh Muhammad Abu Al-Hunud stated in a sermon, "Strike Allah's enemies, the enemies of humanity should be called for from the pulpits of Al-Azhar and other mosques around the world, against the American-British-Crusaders cruel attack. Allah, grant victory to the Iraqi army. Allah, defeat America and its allies. Allah, purify the Islamic soil from the American and British treason and defilement. Allah, make their possessions a booty for the Muslims, Allah, annihilate them and their weapons, Allah, make their children orphans and their women widows."

Nah, there’s no culture war.

Ibrahim Mudeiris also frequently states that the battle between Muslims and the U.S. is a religious war that has its roots centuries ago. In a sermon, he stated, "If we go back in the time tunnel 1400 years, we will find that history repeats itself. Byzantium represents America in the west. America will collapse, as Byzantium collapsed in the west. The Prophet [Muhammad] could, by means of unbroken ranks, conquer Byzantium, the greatest power compared to today's America - and this without a single martyr falling from among the Muslims. The Prophet could, by means of the unity of the Muslim ranks and its awakening, defeat the America of that time, as we will defeat America as long as it supports our enemy, as long as America insists on being against our people and against our cause and our holy places, and against our people and our leadership.

Indeed, we consider America to be our No. 1 enemy. America is our No. 1 enemy, and we see it as our No. 1 enemy as long as we learn from the lessons of the Battle of Tabouk [which took place in October 630 AD] :'Make ready for them whatever you can of armed strength and of mounted pickets' [Koran 8:60]. We are prepared and ready, but victory is from Allah."

Nah, there’s no culture war.

More than 600 lawyers have signed up at the Jordan Bar Association (JBA) to defend former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. According to JBA President Hussein Mjalli, the number of lawyers volunteering for the defense is increasing daily.

JBA, in cooperation with the Cairo-based Arab Lawyer's Union started setting up an international team for Saddam's defense since his capture. The JBA president and several other local lawyers believe Saddam should not be tried because he was "unlawfully deposed and captured by US troops." Mjalli maintains that Saddam is Iraq's legitimate president, and the US-led occupation of the neighboring country is illegal, thus any action or decision stemming from it should be considered null and void. There you have the view of a mainstream Muslim educated class—the Arab lawyers—that the murderer of hundreds of thousands of their own people should not be tried for crimes against humanity.

Nah, there’s no culture war.

ARAB INTIFADA IS EUROPEAN PROXY WAR ON AMERICA

The following address is reprinted from the December 24,2003 Arutz Sheva news report. Her analysis confirms, once again, that anti-Semites have no borders.

European Union Parliament member Ilka Schroeder delivered an address entitled, "The European Union, Israel, and Palestinian Terrorism" at the Center for German Studies of Ben Gurion University on Monday. "The Europeans," explained MP Schroeder, "supported the Palestinian Authority with the aim of becoming its main sponsor, and through this, challenge the U.S. and present themselves as the future global power. Therefore, the Al-Aksa Intifada should be understood as a proxy war between Europe and the United States."

"It is an open secret within the European Parliament that EU aid to the Palestinian Authority has not been spent correctly," MP Schroeder said during a recent address in New York. "The European Parliament does not intend to verify whether European taxpayers' money could have been used to finance anti-Semitic murderous attacks. Unfortunately, this fits well with European policy in this area."

MP Schroeder, a twenty-five-year-old former member of the German Green Party, began her political career protesting the war in Kosovo and denouncing globalization. A year ago, MP Schroeder set her sights on an issue long avoided by members of the radical Left - the diverting of some of the 250 million in annual aid for the Arabs of Yesha (Judea, Samaria and Gaza) to corrupt officials and terrorist groups bent on Israel's destruction.

MP Schroeder managed to initiate an inquiry by the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) into the issue despite significant pressure from her colleagues and fellow parliamentarians to ignore it. MP Schroeder has derided her colleagues who wish to ignore the issue of EU money funding terrorism against Jews as "simple-minded anti-Semites." She has also accused EU External Relations Commissioner Chris Patten of "winking approval of terrorist attacks funded by the EU."

In her Ben Gurion University address, MP Schroeder argued, "The primary goal of the EU is the internationalization of the conflict in order to underline the need for its own mediating role," warning that renewed European calls for a multinational force in the region - heard most recently by the head of the largest political bloc in the parliament - combined with heightened levels of anti-Semitism in Europe and the Arab world, could spell disaster for Jews everywhere. "The Palestinians are playing the ugly role of being the cannon fodder for Europe's hidden war against the U.S.," she added.

While MP Schroeder's call for accountability in EU funding was supported by nearly one quarter of the 626-member parliament, she appears grimly convinced that her efforts to expose anti-Zionism, which she sees as Europe’s polite version of anti-Semitism, has come to naught. MP Schroeder has been embraced by many Jewish groups in Europe and the U.S. and decided to visit Israel for her first time in order to further research the EU’s role in the region.

"There is no difference in the consciousness of an average member of the European Parliament and an average German peace demonstrator, and I consider this to be a mixture of naivete, moralism, anti-Americanism, anti-Semitism, and anti-Zionism and an altogether serious danger," she said during her U.S. speaking tour. "It is against these trends that my efforts are directed."
